Offering a fresh take on the world of sports

The window for free agent negotiations is in full swing and the Calgary Stampeders surprisingly have been busy. In most seasons the Stampeders have elected to wait until the draft to make moves or signings, this season has been different. With the losses of star defensive lineman Jaylon Hutchings and linebacker Jacob Roberts to NFL futures contracts, it became more evident that another lineman who was set for free agency this offseason, Clarence Hicks was the priority.

New Stampeders Players List

Of the newest members of the Stampeders, one of the key name’s on the board are Brandon Maina out of Wofford College of the FCS division of the NCAA. The level directly below the highest level of football in the NCAA system. He is NFL draft eligible in 2026, however he has elected to skip that process to join the Stampeders. He was an FCS second team All-American in 2025 and rather than exploring the transfer portal for an FBS school decided to turn pro.

Another name to watch is R.J. Moten out of the University of Florida. Moten has been on the Stampeders negotiation list for a couple of seasons and was clearly a target for head coach and general manager Dave Dickenson.
